HEART OF GLASS, the highly anticipated debut album from renowned singer-songwriter Jessica Mitchell, is available now. Lauded as ‘Country’s Adele’ and likened to Sheryl Crow by media outlets across Canada, Mitchell’s critical acclaim began immediately following the release of her self-penned single, “Workin’ on Whiskey,” which was the was the most added song at the time of its release.
Recorded in both Toronto and Nashville, HEART OF GLASS features notable producers, including Blake Bollinger, Ben Stennis and Karen Kosowski, and hit songwriters Deric Ruttan (Eric Church, Dierks Bentley) and Victoria Banks (Sara Evans, Johnny Reid). Each heartfelt lyric and melody in HEART OF GLASS reflects Mitchell’s recent personal growth.
“HEART OF GLASS delves into the best – and most challenging – thoughts about being a woman,” said Mitchell. “I poured myself into this album and I hope that when people listen to it, they find a connection to their own lives. I hope each song encourages listeners to find their own strength to move forward, whatever their adversities.”
From the visceral tone and powerful vocals on “Maybe it’s Me,” to the uptempo, dramatic production on “Firechaser,” reminiscent of the lyrical brilliance of a Chris Stapleton track, this record is one of those rare genre-bending gems that commands the attention of the listener from start to finish. Songs like “One of These Things” and “Rain for the River” may simultaneously shatter the heart of listeners, while lifting them up and helping them realize they are not alone.
